Limited Edition Uncharted PS4: Feeling Blue

PS4-uncharted-edition

The Limited Edition Uncharted 4 PS4 Bundle is available for preorder for $400 as of February 4th. The bundle will include a blue-grey and gold 500 GB PS4, a copy of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End and a voucher for digital goodies (which includes Drake’s Fortune Outfit, Golden Weapon Skin and Uncharted Points for Multiplayer Mode).

The matching headset and DualShock controller will be sold separately for $99.99 and $64.99, respectively.

The Limited Edition PS4, as you can see, has a silkscreen image of Nathan Drake looking rather blue — haha! But seriously, his downcast eyes are presumably looking at something rather depressing. According to the PlayStation Blog, the words SIC PARVIS MAGNA (Latin for “Greatness from small beginnings”) will appear on the limited edition console. I’m not seeing too much of this “greatness” expressed on Nathan Drake’s face, unfortunately. Or on any of this boring mess, honestly.

I am very excited for the final installment (and hopefully dramatic conclusion) of Uncharted but I think this console is a complete miss. The design is uncharacteristically dreary. It’s not very reflective of the lighthearted Spielberg-inspired series. But maybe people want gritty, somber designs on their limited edition consoles nowadays. Who knows? I’m not doing the marketing research to find out. I assume Sony has. I’m sure all Sony had to do was slap “Uncharted” onto the console and wait for the preorders to come rushing in. In fact, that’s probably exactly what’s happening here.

How do you feel about this console with an official Nathan Drake sticker on it? Love it? Hate it? Bought it? Tell me in the comments!
