Steam’s big Halloween horror event is almost here. Here’s everything you need to know about Steam Scream V Fest.

When Is Steam Scream Fest 2026?

Steam Scream V Fest runs October 26 – November 2, 2026. It’s the fifth edition of Steam Scream, so it’s “V” as in five.

What Is Steam Scream Fest?

Steam Scream is Valve’s annual horror event, timed around Halloween. It’s a store-wide spotlight on horror games, and past editions have brought horror sales, featured new releases, and plenty of demos. If you’ve been sitting on a horror wishlist all year, this is usually the week to clear it out.

How to Get the Most Out of It

  • Wishlist now. Steam notifies you when wishlisted games go on sale or launch, so anything you add before October 26 will ping you during the event.
  • Check the event page daily. Featured games rotate, and smaller indies get their moment in the spotlight.
  • Try the demos. It’s the cheapest way to find your new favorite horror game, and it helps small developers see who’s interested.
  • Follow the developers you like. It’s free, and it helps indie studios more than you’d think.

New Games to Watch This Scream Fest

The Consumed (Out October 23)

My pick. The Consumed launches October 23, just three days before Scream Fest starts, and it’ll be featured in the event.

You’re the night-shift security guard at the Hargrove Galleria, a dying mall with disappearing employees. Over five shifts, you check, arm, and secure its stores with a flashlight and a camcorder, while something in the building makes the job much harder. It’s analog horror meets PSX, with camcorder grain, a 20XX timestamp, real 1974 mall muzak on the PA, and a satire of consumerism as religion underneath it all. It costs $7.99.

It’s made by OTR HVN with the fashion brand GREY GRADIENT, and it draws on Fatal Frame, Silent Hill, The Exit 8, and the Backrooms. New to it? Start with the FAQ.

Remothered: Red Nun’s Legacy (Out October 27)

Stormind’s stalker-style survival horror series returns right in the middle of Scream Fest week.

The Rest of October

There’s a lot more horror landing this month, including Silver Pines, Tenebris Somnia, and Penguin Colony. I rounded them all up in New Horror Games Coming Out in October 2026.

On a Budget?

Scream Fest sales stack nicely with games that are already cheap. My list of 10 great horror games under $10 is a good place to start.
