If Shin Megami Tensei's Psychological Horror Hooked You, Put Iron Abyss on Your Radar

“Sci-fi horror mecha dungeon crawler” doesn’t sound like it has much business being compared to a decades-old JRPG about demon negotiation. But I’ve been playing Iron Abyss, and the Shin Megami Tensei comparison kept popping into my head way more than I expected. It Makes You Actually Sweat, Same as SMT SMT’s combat has never let you coast — Press Turn punishes a bad read hard, and every fight feels like it’s genuinely trying to end you if you’re sloppy. Iron Abyss gets you to that same nervous place a different way: a DEX-based CTB turn order closer to Final Fantasy X, where heavier actions cost you tempo and every single choice reshuffles who goes next.
