When Nintendo released Miitomo, I was elated, but quickly the appeal of the glorified 3D avatar creator and social media app faded, then disappeared completely. Then, Pokemon Go hit the App Store.
As you know, immediately after its release, the world exploded.
Nintendo has officially announced Pokemon Sun and Moon for the 3DS. The seventh generation of the twenty-year-old game series will be out late this year. Sun and Moon will be the biggest entries since the release of Pokemon X and Y in 2013.
There are some addictive mobile games out there — as I recently elucidated in my Lifeline review. But some are embarrassingly addictive. You’re hesitant to admit that these annoyingly cute, outrageously obnoxious or exceptionally mindless games consume your time and thumb-power. You don’t want friends, family or even strangers seeing you indulge in these guilty pleasures. Mobile games seldom interest me. I usually refuse to spend any real money on app purchases. I’m on a restricted diet of free microtransaction-less games. However, there are exceptions.
